The 5th Annual Encinitas Garden Festival & Tour visits south Leucadia

This secluded little neighborhood includes some of the most amazing places.  There are, of course, countless lovely gardens, both big and small with lots of surprises and clever features.

There are a number of hidden greenhouses that produce everything from ancient cycads to elaborate orchids.  

At the north end of the neighborhood, the newest Encinitas fire station has a lovely, low water landscape.  The firemen have promised to be on hand for tours of the fire truck -- as long as they don’t get called out on an emergency.

Do you love butterflies? We’ve arranged for The Monarch Program butterfly vivarium to open its doors on tour day.  Learn all about the monarch butterflies’ amazing migration from coastal California to the mountains west of Mexico City.  Butterflies will be on display, as will a host of plants that serve as, well, butterfly hosts.

Orpheus Park serves as this years’ marketplace where you'll see some of the best garden and art vendors in the area.  And the ocean view from the park is absolutely stunning!
